Doors

Doors are not so high on the energy loss list providing they are closed. Timber is still a popular choice but u PVC affords more security features. Aluminium is not really used except as panels in u PVC doors and this is rare.

Security is a major issue with external doors as mentioned the u PVC door offers many features which can not be easily incorporated in to wooden doors. Such as 'multi bolt central locking' and reinforced frames and if required metal bar reinforced glazing and panels. With these features and double locking these doors are as secure as possible without being blast proof.

Which ever material you choose doors come in just about any colour from Rose Wood, to White. Glazing is another feature that needs to be considered. Generally having a half glazed door allows a lot more light in to the house and can transform a dark hallway into a bright light space. This is one feature, among the others mentioned, you should consider when choosing your doors.
